For anywhere in the US, I've found Pollstar to be an excellent place to look for upcoming concerts. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I suppose I'm an "elder-goth" now. I can't say if I actually consider myself "goth" as much as I'm counterculture. I have adamant civil-libertarian views (not to be mistaken for the Libertarian political party). If you are not already a member, I highly recommend that you visit the ACLU. I have a BA in Anthropology from the University of Kansas, so I'm interested in all aspects of culture. I like to talk about "taboo" subjects like politics, psychology, sexuality, religion, drugs, crime, the media, the mental environment, etc. I value independence and thoughtful stimulating conversation (hopefully injected with a healthy dose of humor) above all things. I am an atheist, a 23rdian discordian, and a hedonist with a very active social life (I'm kind of a glam queen). While alcohol is the most available chemical pleasure, my drugs of choice are entheogens (LSD, ecstasy, and psilocybin). I am a fake vegetarian (I eat fish - also known as a pescatarianism), and I believe in sustainable living, alternative energy, and environmentalism in general. I also believe in technological progress, and I'm passionately excited about scientific advances. I am childfree and not married, although I have been living with my life partner for ten years. I love dancing (like a fool). I like goth/industrial/trance/dark wave/electroclash/lounge/dance rock/disco/you name it. I am a slave to my senses. I love physical touch. I've been known to hug and kiss, grope and spank my friends in public. I love textures and even won't eat foods that feel strange in my mouth. I love to smell people, and I hate lots of perfumed products. Currently, I'm self-employed. I type math equations and tables for publication online and in scientific journals for Allen Press. I have over 10 years of experience typesetting math and tables as well as some light editing for style and consistency. I know all of the rules for Math Into Type and I'm familiar with TeX, LaTeX, and MathType. I also have a working knowledge of HTML and SGML. I received my diploma for Medical Transcription in November 2004 and worked for 3 years as a medical transcriptionist for a local behavioral health clinic. I transcribed psychiatric evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and all varieties of medical records. I have also recently acquired a variety of transcription clients. I receive mp3s and return Word docs via FTP. I transcribe things like financial reports, insurance claims, conference calls, board meetings, 911 calls, and interviews, and I timecode transcripts for video editing. I am so happy to be self-employed! I guess I have what you'd call oppositional disorder, and I can't stand working in the office environment on the 9-5 M-F. Although I'm a super social person, I'm not a big fan of bosses (i.e. authority, ppl with power trips) or customer service. I really enjoy getting paid for my quantity of work rather than the time I spent doing it. I value versatile free time (mostly because I refuse to let anything offset my vibrant social life and drinking schedule) and sleeping in until whenever I want too much. I live in Westport in Kansas City, MO. My university experience was spent in Lawrence, KS. I lived there from 1994-2001 and then again in 2004-2005. During the blank spot, i.e. the dark ages in my life - my quarter-life crisis, I lived in Wichita, KS. I originally grew up in a very small town called Maple Hill, KS. While I miss living in the liberal mecca of the Bible Belt (Lawrence), Westport is turning out to be just my style. It's only 40 min from Lawrence, and it feels like I live in a "real" city now! I like living so centrally b/c I LOVE to travel. I like to experience all the world has to offer me. I like to meet new ppl, see new places, do new things. My one passion is travel. Some day I hope to be self-sufficient enough to travel around the world full time.
